Borrowed one like this of my uncle to split some large logs with nuts in them was that impressed with it went out and bought my own. grand job split the logs no bother. so long as you know how to use a sledge hammer this will do the job.

Twisted wedge
Looks and feels great unfortunately the oblique angle of the wedge tip renders it pretty useless. Starting the wedge is really hard work and the wedge keeps jumping back out of the wood. I use mine as a second wedge if my trusty old English wedge gets stuck or doesn't quite split the round. Cheap enough at this price to keep as a back up. But I can't really recommend you buy one.

this will split anything you chuck at it
if your struggling to split your logs with an axe like i was then get one of these,if youve not got a 14 lb sledgehammer you need to get one.and a lump hammer to start it off.still a lot cheaper and quicker than the motorised or hydraulic ones.dont forget your safety glasses--have fun.john

Only day 1 bit ive some big beech to procces. Put a chainsaw cut to start , then this wedge, it splits . Using it with the granade roughneck wedge. Well worth the money.
