Never judge a book by its cover!
The Rolling stones Beggars banquet album,first released in 1968 is a classic - full stop. With classic tracks like;Sympathy for the devil,Street fighting man,Parachute girl and gospel inspired Salt of the earth - it conjures up the late '60's era to a tee. The sound quality on this 2018 50th anniversary re-issue by Bob Ludwig, is outstanding - credit to this ubiquitous producer figure. I bought beggars banquet around 2002,as part of a RS re-issues programme.but had to make do with the originally pulled cover sleeve - yes,that notorious,crude and abject toilet image. Now,on this release;it comes in a slipcase with the much more dignified white invitation type sleeve.covering up the offending image on the jewel case CD. Like my headline suggests; what difference does artwork make to the recorded contents.in Beggars banquet's case - quite a lot.its definitely psycological,in my case at least. Really nice reissue
One of the best albums they ever made. Nice to see this reissue with the original album artwork on the outside sleeve, and the "London" label picture disc. Lovely sound quality would suggest it's been remastered again, as this seems clearer than the previous version.
