Solid tunes and arrangements, solid vocals from Roy Harper, and lyrics from Roy that show a tender concern for the human race along with a brusque sense of irony that is far from obvious without explanation of them. That is where the second disc comes in, with Roy Harper's spoken word introductions to short versions of each song, suddenly the songs gain in dimensions of understanding. If the 1980's were very unkind to Roy, then the 1990's were still difficult. In the 1990's Roy released four albums and they were all solidly made but his connections with the mainstream rock audience were declining. Get this album to reconnect with an enduring empathy.
