What a great tool. Super smooth and easy to use if a little heavier than expected. Tool less blade change, clear dust plate and work light serve to make the job even easier. Gripping the body type is personal preference but this saw is very controllable to steer and its own weight helps with momentum of the cut. Variable speed and oscillation features make this a great allrounder. Doesn't come with a fence.

Solid, well designed and easy to use but with some gripes. Carry case is awful quality and better not to bother than provide the cheapest blow moulded affair that proves difficult to ever close properly after first unpacking! Splinter guard is a PITA , doesn't stay in properly and is off centre. Dust collection spout is too small and flimsy and most won't bother using it as a result. Motor is excellent. It's the heart of any Makita tool and this doesn't disappoint. Smooth in use and the dust blower facility is a must as is the work-light. Barrel grip handle is comfortable and allows fine control. Part of me still wishes I'd bought the equivalent barrel bodied Bosch instead due to the compromises but then I remind myself that all my Makita tools are compromised in some way...either too heavy, too noisy or whatever, but I've had them years, they're good solid tools and last the distance in a professional capacity. This would have been a 5 star review if they hadn't spoiled the ship for a hapence-worth of tar. It's also as good as any Festool in use so why would anyone spend three times the cost for a better carry case and brand name? It'll likely last as long too.Read full review
