To be completely honest, I have never shot a crossbow before I purchased the Vengeance. The Vengeance comes as an unassembled kit. The riser and foot stirrup are the only parts you need to attach. The assembly went very smoothly for me, I have read other reviewers complain about the fitment of these parts. All I can say is be patient and take your time. Some slight reshaping (bending) of the foot stirrup will ease it into the slot and the screws will line up perfectly. After completing assembly and mounting the scope I held in my hands the first crossbow I would ever shoot. The draw of the string with the rope cocker is very smooth and for a guy of 5'6" I do need to stretch a little bit. Other reviews have suggested you cut the rope shorter, so you wouldn't need to pull so far up. I do not recommend this. You will find a shorter rope is not going to fit around the rope catch at the rear of the stock, and then you will have no leverage in which to pull the string into locked position. I am finally ready to let my first bolt loose. The trigger has a good feel to it, little take up and a smooth pull. I have not guaged it, but it feels about 5lb pull. The weight is very manageable while in the standing position, due to the riser being mounted closer to the shooter. After a few shots the scope was dialed in and the Vengeance was putting bolts through beer bottle caps @ 100' with ease. I have nothing bad to say about the Vengeance because I have nothing to compare it to. However for monster crossbow capable of taking down nearly any big game in north America, it is also excellent for the enthusiasts like me.

  • ONE HOT BOW

First off, putting this crossbow together should be quite simple. It is not. The instructions are fine and if you read simple to understand. The quality and fit are very good also. Where the problem lies is getting the riser on the rail itself. It is the tight tolerances themselves that lend to frustration along with the too short assembly screws that mate the two pieces together. I had to use a forstner bit to bottom out the screw pockets in the riser to get the screws into the rail (or body). After figuring this out assembly was a snap. The bow is compact and feels lighter than it actually is. Relatively quiet and it is fast with 410 gr arrows. After noticing the cams were slightly out of time, I took it to my friend's archery store. A couple twists on one buss cable and all is well. Initially I was very unimpressed with the accuracy of the Vengeance. BUT, after getting use to the creep and (what seemed like pulling a potato sack across the driveway) heavy pull on the trigger, I overcame some of the accuracy problems. I kept shooting the bow for a couple more days and after approximately 60 arrows it started to settle in and group. The more I shot the better it became, until I was consistently getting 1 1/2" 3 arrow groups at 50 yds. and 2" at 60 yds. As far as 'Value' I did put yes as a comparison to other crossbows. But imo I don't think ANY bow or crossbow is worth the price paid on the top end line. If you just gotta' have it or cost means little, by all means this is the bow to have in its price range. I love it. Now if I can figure out if a trigger job is possible I think I just might have that proverbial 'Tack driver." (If anyone knows of Barnett selling more of the Vengeance because of this review.....have them send me a check!

  • All is good

This is my second cross bow assembling was a piece of cake close tolerances so take your time and it will go together just fine. As for speed it's fast and accurate and very quiet all around it seems to be a nice bow. Even owners of ten point bows like it so it can't be all bad

  • Great crossbow for the money !!!!!!!

I had one of these crossbows prior to getting this in which I got for my father in law and they are super!!! They shoot really fast and are super accurate. I have had trouble with the Barnett scope but I put hawke scopes on both vengeance and they are tack drivers.
