Great looking toaster does the job, as in other reviews the sides do get hot, but then it does have heating elements in it! The one downside for me is that the plug lead is on the side of the toaster and very short, not good if your plug socket is not right next to where you want to keep the toaster. THE SIMPLE JOY OF A GOOD PIECE OF TOAST
Make sure to read the simple instructions as bedding the elements in correctly makes this toaster work exactly as you want it to. After bedding in the elements I selected number 4 as an appropriate place to start assessing how my perfectly cooked piece of toast should be. 1st slice was evenly brown all the way to the edges and still soft in the middle. It was VERY close to perfect a little less and it was there for me. It's simple to use and works great. Heats to a very low temperature , even on highest setting.
The toaster does not heat to a high temperature. I have to use the highest setting just to make the bread toast to a pale colour. At least burning the toast is not an option.
