Those looking for ultra-quiet phono stage tubes generally turn to Sovteks, 6922s and 6N1Ps. Those willing to put up with a little noise or a bit of microphonics for better tone and timbre look mainly to expensive NOS Amperex, RCA, and Mullard. You seldom hear of a SCORE! concerning mid-70s Sylvanias yet they are hands down the best 5965 driver tubes I've had in my 45 amplfier and now this single Yellow Letter Sylvania 6DJ8 is doing dead quiet, pure sounding work at the input of my Gas Tube Regulated Allen Wright- style phono stage.

I bought this pair of JAN/Sylvania 6922's for my Audio Research LS-15 preamplifier. I put them in the input positions, with Amperex, A frame, orange globes in the rear position sockets. They seem to mellow out a bit of harshness ,that I find inherent in most 6922/6dj8 tubes, excluding maybe the very pricey Mullards or Telefunkens. The preamp is now smoother , more 3 dimensional, and relaxed sounding. At about 1/4 the price of the above mentioned pricier tubes, they were a great buy.
Excellent sound from these tubes, true vintage quality sound. The seller certainly has brilliant products to offer.
