It was a camera that suited me, It dose what I want it to its what I prefer, This camera is a better camera than my old one .
This is a compact camera & not an SLR, it has limitations because of the lens & sensor size both which are the recording components of images. Meaning I am rating this not against an SLR but other compacts & why I have given it top stars, had it been, unfairly, against an SLR then it would score less of course. I paid £36 inc p&p for a brand new Samsung DV90 which I have seen retail at £69, this was released in 2012 but I have looked at the 2013 line up & not a lot if anything has changed. It came with a Samsung padded pouch / belt loop & wrist strap. The phone charges via the supplied UK 3 pin charger once you put the battery into the camera & takes from flat approx 150 minutes, via a computers USB this would be longer. The software loaded on the cameras internal memory is downloaded to the computer via a cable not supplied, I am not docking a star because at £36 inc p&p it has to have a worse point than that. I have a USB to the mini USB as I'm sure many people will have & use that to off load the software. This software is extremely capable for those that don't have any Video or Photo editing software so make sure you check it out before buying any as unless you're a pro I think you'll find it is more than good enough. I have a very bad arm tremor and am impressed with the anti-shake on this very small camera. Even with my big paws I found the controls well laid out & easy to use/press without fumbling & miss pressing or getting my finger in front of the lens. At maximum 5x optical zoom the image is still very usable, I would never use a digital zoom on any camera, I won't go into why here suffice it to say just crop & enlarge on your computer & you'll get a better image from the max optical zoom. The video zoom only goes to the max 5x which for me was a bonus as it means you can't go over the optical by mistake. The digital zoom in the photo mode has a natural stop & you have to release the small lever & press up again & so I feel this also is good to prevent accidental use of the digital zoom. The only possible use I can think of for digital zoom is to take a look via it & then decide "do I need to move closer" or "okay I see it" & then use this as a reminder to zoom in later on the computer, remembering to zoom out of digital zoom. One feature that almost lets this down one star if it weren't so cheap, a lack of a manual, but I downloaded one & I advise everyone to do so. The amount of features on this camera are immense & one such feature the 'Auto Exposure Bracketing' was one at this price level I was amazed to see & so definitely wanted to use as it was one of the reasons I bought it. And this is the reason to have the manual as the 'Auto Exposure Bracketing' isn't obvious how to 'do' so to speak as it's electronically done via the menu. Once done in 'Program' mode it's very easy in fact as are all the features. It can even take the 3 bracketed shots with one button press. It also has a fast 6 shots mode or continuous shoot until memory used up mode. The flash compensation can also be single up or down. The auto mode works with several choices of focus, face & metering zones & the front screen is a real bonus. From a Pros view this is ideal as a tool for when you weren't expecting to find an image & so can take a 'reminder shot' because we don't always have our SLR kit with us. The shutter lag is barely 1 second & the auto focus very fast, the multi metering works brilliantly as does face recognition. Highly recommended.Read full review
