About this product

Product Information

Now a major motion picture starring Mia Wasikowska and Adam Driver 'I experienced that sinking feeling you get when you know you have conned yourself into doing something difficult and there's no going back.' So begins Robyn Davidson's perilous journey across 1,700 miles of hostile Australian desert to the sea with only four camels and a dog for company. Enduring sweltering heat, fending off poisonous snakes and lecherous men, chasing her camels when they get skittish and nursing them when they are injured, Davidson emerges as an extraordinarily courageous heroine driven by a love of Australia's landscape, an empathy for its indigenous people, and a willingness to cast away the trappings of her former identity. Tracks is the compelling, candid story of her odyssey of discovery and transformation. WITH A NEW POSTSCRIPT BY THE AUTHOR AND A STUNNING COLOUR PICTURE SECTION

Having visited Australia several times was interested in the Outback,I was intrigued to read the journey Robyn explored, she has given a very good idea as to what the outback is like and how remote it is, I found it hard to put down and really enjoyed the journey especially as it mentions some of the places i have visited.

  • Eddie

A superb book by Robyn Davidson. She will take you through every possible emotion when she delivers to the reader her own and others experiences of living and working in the outback of Australia. She will have you laughing, gasping, cringing and bouts of sympathy and despair at the treatment of the native aborigines. She will introduce Eddie Mabo and his fight for justice for the aboriginal people via Kevin Gilbert’s citation. And all this before you even start the journey across the desert with her camels. A real good book and one that will be read over and over. A tough, strong minded lady.
