I bought these to replace an identical pair that has given good service for years and which we've somehow lost. We keep them in the kitchen but they migrate around for other jobs. When we lost ours, we were left with our other "ordinary"kitchen scissors, which are sort-of-ok but actually a bit frustrating. These, on the other hand, are nicely-ground, have a good point on the end for getting into corners, are sharp, fit your hand, and don't work loose. They'll cut paper, food packets, string.....all your usual household stuff. If you want to do good work with cloth, get some dedicated scissors for that, though you can use these for cloth, too. They might look a bit expensive at first sight, but you buy cheap and you regret it. These are really good general-purpose scissors.
