A movie worth watching:based on a novel and covers the relationship between the British ruling class in Kenya and the black indigenous population in the 1950-1960 period, that led to the Mau Mau rising. The movie sees the events from the point of view of one family, ignoring the wider involvement of the British Army and Air Force in this terrorist campaign. It also makes the very few deaths of white settlers, who were murdered during the initial phase of the campaign, appear of greater importance than the many thousands of the local population, who did not support the Mau Mau cause and were murdered during the period of the rising.
