The La Pavoni Europiccola is not for those who want quick espresso. But it's great for someone who wants to know the ins and outs of espresso maker and is willing to take responsibility for learning. Well made and well designed. If you buy used, make sure you inquire about how often the unit was cleaned and the shape of the base under the catch tray. It came in terrible shape. so much scale buildup and just poor packaging. part of the machine was sticking out of the box when it arrived. The boiler was against cardboard without padding and could have easily gotten punctured with the wrong throw of the box by a careless employee. Perfect machine...
This is a well built machine. I like the design; it allows for a lot of control in pulling shots. More labor intensive, it's a tradeoff. I worked as a barista for 4+ years. Great once you get used to it.
I bought this used. There was quite a bit of rust in the drip tray, even though I kept a cup under the portafilter. Turns out it was the steamer wand. Once I tightened that valve down (I do straight shots) there was no more drip. I feel bad giving it a "no" on "easy to use" "easy to clean" and "brews quickly" but lets be honest---it's not an automatic, self-cleaning machine. Great machine for total control
This is a machine for people who love process and ritual. It doesn’t make more than two lattes so it isn’t for entertaining. The group on the older models is smaller than modern machines so it only pulls 1 shot of espresso at a time.
