I have previously used metal mesh sieves, but they don't seem to last long, the mesh pulls away from the frame much too easily, so I took the plunge and bought this plastic one. The mesh seems to be just as fine as the metal ones, but it looks as if it will last far longer. It was a bit of a shock to receive it flattened, and we had to make it gradually into the proper bowl-shape. But that worked ok with some warm water - actually hot pasta. After that it's perfect.
