Good for light use, where it is needed.
I purchased it to pull items up to attic crawl space. Only thing I find wrong- pulleys are plastic & I think it is over rated at 2 tons. I will be later be picking up a large riding mower with it. great for small lifts
although they rate it at 4000#, I would not try it for sure! rope is correctly measured by circumference unlike cable by diameter. they claim that the supplied rope is 3/8" but it is not. the rope has a SAFE WORKING LOAD of 200# and multiply that by the 6 parts, the pulley system is good for 1200#, past that, stand FAR BACK!!! the block system is good enough for that load and more but you are limited by the rope size the pulley is designed for and going larger to get more load is NOT recommended as the weight distribution in the pulley form is distorted. would I recommend it? yes I would with ALL the SAFETY issues considered before picking up the load.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

No wheels... merely friction channels made of plastic. Plastic rope undersized... You must forcefully grip the rope to pull a tree back into alignment. Takes two people... Sometimes two to pull the rope, and one must hole tension on the hoist while the other ties the tree back... There is no provision for locking the pulley while you secure the tree or other object. Regrettably, not too many 1/2" or 3/4" rope pulleys around at good prices. The price of this product is great but you must be realistic on what you are getting. Wheels would have made it pull easier but you still cannot lock it into place while you tie a tree. In this sense, a ratchet come along would be preferred - - Admittedly at a much higher price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

2 Ton Hoist
Great product. Bought this to hang deer/hogs for skinning. I gave it a "4 star" b/c it lacks a locking brake. If it had a locking brake, it would have definitely been rated a 5 star. Without the locking brake, you have to tie the rope off to a tree/post/truck bumper or whatever you can find. Very Handy Shop Addition
I found this block and tackle was just the thing I needed. While I don't believe I will ever lift a load that will test its capacity, the loads I have lifted were done with ease. The 3/8" poly rope is just big enough to allow a good grip when using and is limber enough to minimize tangling. Worth buying
I went through 2 different bicycle lifts to hang my kayak out of the way lifted to the garage ceiling. With both the ropes were thin and the fit on the pulley wheels allowed them to slip off being a hassle to operate. This hoist is well made and the thicker rope fits the wheels. On the bicycle lifts the small thin plastic pulley wheels wore out and broke after a couple of years. This hoist has thicker wheels and because of the multiple wheels and design there seems to be less stress and weight on individual wheel. The block and tackle design allows less effort to lift the object.

may lift by hand 200 lbs
the price was right for this product but 2 tons no way. I bought this product to raise my lown mower for sharpening the blades (a snapper 46 inch rider) and i can not raise it with this device by hand,it would need to have something really strong to wind it on.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
