Advanced DIY on a budget.
Don't think that by using this kit that you'll instantly be making beautiful furniture like Norm Abram! It's a budget unit which, when compared to Kreg is fantastic value for money. Unfortunately the base only allows relatively thin pieces in to clamp so anything too chunky so if you are looking to make a monster then the unit breaks down simply enough and with a strong enough clamp the individual runners can be held to the work without too much trouble. The aluminium runners do tear up if your not gentle and put too much pressure on the work, so take care when brushing off the shavings as you'll end up with a few bits stuck in your fingers if you're not too careful! The bit as expected - nothing special, I get the impression it won't last long.
The kit comes in a box with fixings and bits to get you going - all of these in a bag so full of oil it'd bring BP's profits up massively! be aware of this before handling your work with oily fingers, particularly if it's going to be exposed.
All in all a good piece of kit. I bought this for 1 job and needed it quickly and with Draper there's rarely any risk - you know it's not professional standard, the price tells you that I suppose but it is a very good kit for the hobby user and occasional user alike. Would I recommend? Yes - but probably not to a professional carpenter. It offers very good value for a reasonable bit of kit that will inevitably get used on the odd occasion and each time I'll use it I will be thankful for the price I paid more than the product, after all; this is used for creating strong joints that you won't see anyway!
