Condition:
Bob Wallace, his wife Mindy and their children Tim and Susie, decorate their house for Christmas, for years, they have had the best decorated home in the neighbourhood. A new family, Stu and Mary Jones and their son Chip, moves into the house across the street. On their first day in the neighbourhood, the Jones out-do the Wallace's decorations. Bob immediately recognises Stu as his old high school rival who he had an intense dislike for. Bob rushes to the store to buy more decorations and Stu matches him, restarting the rivalry. They bet each other that they will win the citys annual Christmas decoration contest. Meanwhile, Chip and Susie develop a relationship and both fathers accuse the other child of spying. When the Jones come to the Wallaces annual Christmas party, the rivalry heats up even further.
