Meridian Director DAC - Buy it used!
With an original MSRP of $700, the Meridian Director DAC was IMO too expensive, even though the sound quality was and is exemplary. But now in the secondary market for an asking price about half the original, it's a much better deal. It's fixed level 2V analog outputs are designed to be plugged into a home stereo with a volume control (not a headphone amplifier). Sound quality via both USB and TOSLINK & S/PDIF digital inputs is phenominally good.
