  • I believe this product was used by one of the cast of “Alone”

Most Japanese products are not cheap. This is one of those products that are worth every cent. It cuts on the pulling stroke which makes this a very safe saw. It also has a double safety so it will not close on your fingers. The case, however, is poorly made with very light weight nylon fabric. This is its only drawback because it even has a space for an extra blade which if you intend to go on any type of a survival situation, it would behoove you to have. I don’t believe it’s necessary because if you use the pulling action like it is intended for you will not bend the blade requiring a replacement. I tried to contact the producers of the series “Alone” to get specifics on all cast members choices of tools. As you can expect I never got an answer. But this is with me every time I go on a trip in a vehicle or backpacking. I hope this helps. JJ (U.S. Army)

  • BEAST

This is my go to, do it all, favorite saw of all time! Cuts through 10"-14" trees like butter! I have even cut a 23" pine down with this saw! Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money, believe the reviews, BUY A SILKY! This is now a piece of my kit that is NOT replaceable! The Katanaboy 650 can do it all with NO fuel and NO maintenance like a chainsaw! one of the best purchase's I have ever made!

  • Superb tool for trails maintainence

Just completed 14 days of back country trails maintenance in the Olympic National Park and Pasayten Wilderness, using this tool for clearing the winter's load of blowdowns. Superb tool for everything from lopping off overhead limbs to cutting 40 cm logs while the big crosscut saws were busy elsewhere. Extremely efficient blade and very aggressive tooth pattern, with a great handle that multiplies the effectiveness of the blade.

  • Much quicker delivery than I expected

This saw is special. It is Large, Sharp, and Expensive. The question of ,is it a good value, is specific to your needs. If you are going to go into the wilderness and build a haven I can’t think of a better tool. If you are going to cut up many lengths of firewood for your home get a chain saw. I was able to fall a small tree and make several cuts in an already downed tree with ease. This saw is a very good choice for those times when power tools are not available or you only have to make one or two cuts. Keep one in your vehicle for emergency tree or limb clearing. Shipping from Japan was expensive but much quicker delivery than I expected.

  • Capabilities of a chainsaw!

Expensive, but worth every penny. This saw represents EXCELLENT value. Less than a week to receive it from Japan to my door! Very well-designed and wicked sharp. The day after receiving, I used it to tackle a 20" diameter section of a downed tree with no difficulty whatsoever. Not as fast as a chainsaw with sharp chain, but considerably quicker and easier than using an ax on the big stuff. I consider this a "must have" for any backcountry trip. I bought it to help clear the occasional log jam encountered during canoe expeditions in those spots where portaging is next to impossible due to terrain. This saw will from here on out always be with me.

  • All things Silky

I am no stranger to Silky products. My favorite is the telescoping pole saw. If u are careless with Silky products, u will end up in the ER. I'm lucky if I don't draw blood just cleaning & oiling after use. Cuts thru wood like nothing I've ever experienced. They cut on the pull stroke, so don't apply any downward pressure on the push stroke and u won't experience any buckling/binding. There is nothing on the market that is comparable. So for the "I only buy American made" consumers, if u want the best, u will need to make an exception here. The Japanese "own" this market. Do ur own research; check out reviews on Amazon or utube.

  • Great quality saw

Great saw, I have a camp bow saw but this bad boy cuts quick and is light and easy to carry. Bought it for my place in Hawaii where I have some hard wood trees and this makes quick work of limbs and more.

  • Engineless Chainsaw

A brilliant and powerful tool. It is a work of art, a deadly and fast saw and is about 60-70% of a chainsaw when worked properly. Cutting on the pull only, allow your hand to apply only a little pressure on pulling and then gently but swiftly push the saw back forward allowing the teeth to slide back. The harden steel on the teeth is exceptional. Make sure you clean the sap off and you’ll never have to sharpen this for years

  • silky the sharp sword

Actually I like it very reliable to use cuts logs like cutting better but bends a lot any little mistake you loose the blade and costs too much to replace it ..My own opinion I like the silky gomboy 240 better easier to use and less effort just with one hand not two hands like the 650 it's a monster saw.
