Minox BV 10x40 BR Binoculars (used).
These arrived well packed and appeared to have had little use. The view through these is very clear and bright due to the high quality fully multicoated optics. The sharpness in the centre of the field is excellent but this tapers off towards the edges and there is noticeable blurring at the extremes. There is some colour fringing when looking at sharp edged objects against a very bright background but this is only noticeable under the conditions mentioned and is fairly minor. The screw up eyecups stay firmly in place and spectacle users have the full field of view when the eyecups are in the fully down position. The dioptre setting is stiff and stays firmly in position once set and the centre hinge adjusts firmly and easily. The rubber armouring feels nice to the touch and should protect the binoculars from minor knocks and bumps and they are fully waterproof so no need to worry if you get caught in a shower of rain. The binoculars are very well made with the look and feel of a high quality product and the large oculars coupled with a wide field of view and smooth focus make these a pleasure to use. I have used these for long periods with no signs of eyestrain which is an indication of the excellent optical quality. These are used for general purpose viewing and I find the 10x40 format good with the binoculars easy to hold steady helped by the solid construction and fair weight. These are well made high quality binoculars and I can find no fault other than the minor faults mentioned above. These came with a neck strap, eyepiece protectors and a good quality soft carry case.
