Extremly good price for a convection oven.............

We needed an oven for my daughters GCSE art project using fimo polymer clay so have to admit I have not used this for food. It caused a great deal of stress at first with regards to temperature. I bought an additional oven thermometer as required for baking the fimo to ensure it kept a constant temperature. I was disappointed to find this oven was not doing or behaving as it should. I purchased this particular oven because ovens with a fan are more reliable to keep a constant temperature for polymer clay, hence choosing a convector oven. The instructions are diabolical and didn't help me understand at all and did not make any sense to me prior to using. I wanted to use both elements with the fan. No matter what I did using the fan setting the temperature always dropped by 50 degrees. Once We discovered this, we cooked on a temperature 50 degrees higher than what we wanted but it took a lot of messing around to check and work this out. So to use the fan settings it states to firstly preheat oven to required temperature Next, it instructs to set temperature to high? Why as you have it on your desired temperature (doing this at max meant it got too hot) Followed by then stating to turn knob function to either of the desired fan settings (both elements or upper) We managed to get around this issue by increasing the cooking temperature by 50 degrees and it did cook the fimo polymer clay fine and seemed to then stay at a constant temperature but I would not want to use it for food as a fan oven. Polymer clay bakes on a very low temperature (110 degrees) so I preheated to 160 degrees switched to fan and it would then regulate to 110 degrees. I cannot comment too much on the other settings without a fan but do believe it reached what it should accurately when I preheated on those settings. I know my thermometer was accurate as I placed it in my other kitchen neff fan oven and it was spot on. I also made sure it had plenty of time warming up in the Andrew James convector oven as I spent a whole after noon messing around with it and experimenting. I don't know if this is just a fault with our oven but it did reach the correct temperature without the fan. But dropped dramatically once switching to fan setting. I followed up by leaving it like this for a long time but temperature never went higher. Obviously if you opened the door it would drop more and would need to then increase but it was always 50 degrees lower than what it should have been going by the temperature knob settings. Going back to the instructions they did state to preheat and then set temperature to high prior to switching to fan so can only presume they are trying to bump up temperature for the 50 degree loss. I couldn't do this as needed to ensure an exact and constant steady temperature without burning the fimo rather than randomly setting the knob over what I wanted (to high) without experimenting. I hope this helps someone and have to say now we know what we are doing it is o.k. and doing the job we bought it for at a reasonable price.

  • Not the best mini oven

Looks OK, but a few pitfalls. Good;- Neat, Heats quickly, Simple controls. OK;- Size (Max height = 13Cm) Bad;- Well as mine just failed I looked inside. The temperature control doesnt measure the oven temperature at all!!! It simply turns On and Off depending on the temperature inside the outer case. Very bizarre, but explains why the case gets too hot to touch at max setting, Very light so slides around when you open door. And you DONT want to stop it sliding if its very hot!

  • Great cooker and great value.

I was a little worried about what to expect. Reading comments about damaged or faulty goods on arrival or other negative stuff. For me its been a godsend. Easy to use, cooks thoroughly, quicker and cheaper than my larger oven which is developing a number of faults. It doesn't get too hot on the outside, you can put your hand on any part of its case and there is no burning, the top makes a good plate warmer but again not so hot that you can't handle the plate. The door seals well and the controls do the job, the thermostat seems to be correct although I've never checked the temp with a probe. The food is always well cooked. Maybe I was lucky but this oven has none of the problems some people have talked about. I say just buy it.

  • I just think it absolutely so wonderful it has taken al,the stres of my entertaining

I downsized & thought I could manage with a single oven ....wrong I needed a plate warmer & oven at different temperatures so my love,y husband bought me this wonderful little oven and it takes all the stress out of entertsink g with one single oven. This is not only my support system ,but economical for the odd egg custard uses less electricity than my main oven I just love it a really good buy for us .

  • Great little oven

This is a brilliant little oven. Most of the time I'm cooking for just me and my daughter so this saves on heating up my big oven, so saving me a lot of money. Heats up very quickly. I've cooked some chicken steaks in it and they came out great, very succulent compared to my usual oven. I've done sausages, lasagne and burgers in it and it has never failed to impress. Maybe an issue for some, it can take around 5 mins longer to cook some things compared to a normal oven but the money saved from heating up a large oven more than makes this a perfect buy for small families or single people.

  • Fantastic!!!

Arrived today well packaged. Used tonight with success!!! Got to temp in less than 5 mins and took the same time to cook as my big oven. I have bought this to use in our caravan but wanted to try it first. I cannot fault this product so far, i don't usually write reviews but thought i should due to how brilliant it is. If i was to use it every day for family cooking i would probably need a bigger one but it cooks a 10" pizza and a tray of chips easily. I love the fact it has a fan as this cooks the food more evenly, i didn't have to turn the food around half way through. The top and sides do get hot but not enough to seriously burn you. I would recommend this oven to anyone, it's fantastic and cheap too!!!

  • Great product

I am really pleased with my mini oven and use it continuously. It has replaced my toaster and also my main oven - an absolute boon. I only have a small kitchen and this fits in fine. It was a little disconcerting at first that the timer switches the oven on & off, but it's a quick adaption to allow a little extra time to heat up and when time is up a beep alerts you and the oven switches off automatically. All in all, I'm very happy that I decided to buy this mini oven. The only negative - a very minor one - is that it has no interior light.
