Reliable rechargeable AA cells.
I have found these batteries to be virtually as good as Eneloop, at a lower cost which makes them more cost effective. The hardest application I have used them in, is as 6v RC aircraft receiver packs (5cell AA) and they give quite satisfactory performance.
