Good, not Great
This gun vise has an overall good design. It has lots of adjustment for various gun shapes, large knobs, pockets for tools, bottles and parts, etc. It's great for cleaning your gun or perhaps mounting a scope if your're careful, and I don't know how I managed without one before. That being said I have to say I think it's not nearly good enough for anything heavier. It flexes continually apart at the clamp area with very little resistance before gaining more than a rather light hold on the buttstock. Although the pads are very nice and grip well, it's otherwise made of toy like plastic pieces. Tightening it up firmly I think would break it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Adequate for the hobbyist, could use a couple improvements.
My brother has the older version of this vise and while this one is very usable it doesn't have the rigidity of his and the buttstock clamp on his is more substantial than this one (this one flexes a bit too much for my liking). I realize that in order to remain competitively priced that manufacturers have to find corners to cut but in this case the clamp area should have been constructed with more rigidity and the base shouldn't show warp areas from the mold due to reduction of mass. I also suggest lengthening at least one adjustment bolt for the center support as you need to hold the supplied bolt in place so you can start the threads on the tightening nut. All said, I've used it for cleaning my AR, my bolt-action hunting rifle, an auto-loader shotgun and a couple pistols. With the exception of the short bolt for the center support, it is easy to set up and adjust. I recommend it as a reasonably-priced option for the hobby shooter.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Extremely Good Gun Visefor the money but a few minor design improvements would help.
If the you get what you pay for well this one may be a you get a bit more than you paid for. Not the absolute best that was ever created but for the money its functional and does the job for all my (22) guns. However, I would recommend Tipton add a mid point clamp at the point it has a mid point support. A clamp similar to the butt stock camp (as option to used when needed) would really help with more lateral stability when mounting scopes.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Tipton Best Gun Vise
This vise is of excellent quality. My gun shop has had one of these for years, and every time I've stopped in over the years he had a different rifle or shotgun clamped up in it. He stated that he couldn't mount and bore sight rifle scopes without one of these gun vises, so I finally purchased one of my own. It was easy to assemble. All parts are separated in plastic bags and are easy to identify. The vise is well engineered and should last a lifetime. Worth every Penny
I got this to make working on and cleaning my Guns easer. I live in a apartment and don't have a lot of room to work on things. So I got a roll away tool storage with a top of 20" x 48" that I can work on instead of on the kitchen table. Now with the Best Gun Vise I am able to work on My AR and other guns a lot easer. I did not want to mount a heavy Vice on my roll away. I just got the best vise and I have used it today setting up my sights and red dot on my AR now its time to go to the range and sight them in. Pros: 1. Very well made even for a "plastic" product Cons: 2. Wish the base could "collapse" to make it more compact for storage. 3. Fairly pricey This gun vise works wonders for all of my rifles. I have used it for my AR-15s, SCAR 17s, AK-47, Remmington SPS and M1A with a Sage chassis with no problem.
