a MUST HAVE item for every C5 Corvette
There are nice item, note to have items and there are MUST HAVE items. If you own a C5 Corvette (that is, a Corvette produced between 1997 and 2004), weather your Corvette has had all factory recalls installed or not, automatic or manual transmission, you absolutely must buy and install this device. This device eliminates once and for all, the dreaded Service Steering Column Lock message and the associated reduction of engine speed to 2 miles an hour, and the physical locking of the steering column. Many, if not all original owners of C5 Corvette has experienced with issue. Second or third owners may not have had this happen to them as more owners are aware of the issue and have installed correcting devices. However, the various fixes, some by GM and some by aftermarket remedies have not always been successful. From what I have read, this simple to install device, which attaches to the BCM (Body Control Module) which is located under the passenger foot well and completely eliminates the threat of the steering column locking as well as the associated 2 MPH throttle reduction. There are YouTube video of the installation process. The install is extremely simple and straight forward. Great works well
Your steering lock has to be disengaged already for this to work and make sure you pull your BCM fuse while it is disengaged. Basically disables your steering lock permanently and does that very well havnt had an issue since installing! Update: about a week after installing it I'm having a service column lock message appear while I'm driving and requiring me to pull the negative cable to reset. LMC5 is a Well Thought Out Solution to C5 Column Lock Issue
I'm an ASE Certified Master mechanic and I purchased this product because of its solid state design and non-intrusive installation. I like the fact that there is no mechanical relay to fail and that it's designed so that no wires have to be cut or spliced to install it. With competing products, one has to cut wires going to the lock motor and I prefer to keep my classic vehicles as close to "factory" as possible; I don't like modifying factory wiring harnesses on a potential collector car if I don't have to. I also was attracted to the fact that this modification is done at the BCM, which is much more accessible that tearing down the driver's side of the dash (which all of the competing brands seem to require). I contacted technical support regarding a random "pull key" message and the representative was very knowledgeable technically and his answers were highly detailed, which I appreciate as a mechanic. The cost of the LMC5 is significantly higher than several others but the fact that it is so well engineered still makes it a decent value.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

LMC5 saves the day.
I was working on my Corvette in my garage and I tried backing it out and it just died on me come to find out that my steering lock had died so I Googled how to fix it and lmc5 was being talked about in every form and how great they were so I ordered one from eBay had it in 2 days. Took me 20 minutes to put in and my car drives and works like it did the day I first got it. Must have for your Corvette
The Lmc5 was everything I hoped for. No more wait 10 seconds or service steering column in the info screen. I recommend this fix as being the best fix forever regardless of having the recall done or if your car has even shown signs of failing yet. I always worried about this issue but thought it would never happen to me but knowing now how easy the install was I regret waiting until my car stranded me. I’m recommending this product to all my C5 friends as The fix!! At least have one of these kits in your glove box for when it is your turn. My car was good one day and stranded me the next. Thank you Compliance parts for creating this excellent product at a great price point.

Needed for BCM replacement
The BCM went bad in my 98 coupe so I got a reman and installed it. After programming it I was getting “service column lock” and “turn key off for 10 seconds” errors. I assume the previous BCM was reprogrammed under recall for column lock issue. I recently bought the car so don’t know the history. Anyway, I bought the LMC5 and installed as directed (great instructions included by the way). Car started right up and NO ERROR! Product works great and easy to install. Best bang for the buck
The item arrived according to shipping schedule with no issues. Does exactly what it says it will!
C5 Corvettes can and do have an issue with the steering lockout engaging at random. Mone did and fortunatly the car was at my house. I found the LMC5 on Google and it was at my house in Perth Western Australia in 2 weeks. The product has the most complete description on fitting I have ever seen and I have had Corvettes since 1976! Even GM had various fixes under a recall which were it appears marginal fixes. This product totally fixed the problem. I even had to do the extra step recommended when the car came with a Steering lock relay.
