A bargain and a joy to review haha
Key points, good price, cheapest I could find but good built quality etc.
But, lacks a basket so you have to use a paper insert, not the worst thing for the planet.
Or rely on the whims of designers, see below...
Well, a bonus for the left handers in this world, as the on off red button, not switch, is on the left hand side as you look at it with the mains lead coming out of the back. This is great for right handers too, a whole new dexterity awaits as pouring the water in from the graduated jug works well on that side too, the spout coming up on the rhs of the water tank bit.
So, all good, will have to wait and see how long it takes the hot plate, a vital part of the brewing process as I know due the failure of that in two previous coffee makers, to go kaput.
And be unable to be replaced and all that, conspicuous planet wrecking consumption and all that. I had a go at fixing the last two. Of course, it might take less time for some clever designer perhaps not in thrall to the leccie companies to come up with a thermos type insulated jug thus obviating the need for a hot plate eh... Who knows though, having just checked the screws in the bottom of the maker, they appear to be ordinary and not the T shaped ones on the previous maker, (which of course indicated no repairable parts in the maker, but, being curious I bypassed the T shape with an ordinary small flat bladed screwdriver, huzzah etc) this one might have all its parts labelled with replacement order enabling numbers... We can but dream eh while the planet frazzles.
I of course bought it cos it was the cheapest out there... and found out why, there is no basket for the coffee, the idea being you buy disposable paper ones, not the worst idea on the planet it being paper, but, luckily for me, the previous previous maker's basket fits a treat, so a warning there, this coffee maker needs disposable paper insert thingies.
And re the design issue, the previous coffee maker's basket was of course beautifully designed, and thus shaped so as to be not round, luckily I'd kept the previous previous one as a spare, they're both off to the tip for the leccie recycling section now that I've got a fridge freezer that's gone kaput and is unfixable to take too.
Enjoy, as they say in them there coffee shops...
Doh, my coffee's gone cold in the cup, can't think why haha... PING
PS Yup, I'm fully aware that the wage slaves in the factories who make these things such bargains do like to get paid on a regular basis, ie have more labour to do the next day, year, decade, they've got families to feed etc, hence the built in failure and product cycle, so, the issue is that we need to design a better economy, all this design and product review feedback is just froth really...
