Good idea but rather small
Got this for my small charges to play with (I'm a nanny). I've tested it on children aged 2-6, which I think would be fair to say are its target audience. My main observation is that the frame around the drawing area is dar too big, leaving a too-small area for very much drawing. The decorations on the frame are supposed to be "educational" but what's with the alphabet all in CAPITALS ?!! All small children are taught lower case letters first. You can trace and write around the letters, but this is of limited value without lower case. The other pictures around the edge can't be drawn on so it's just a wasted space. The water pens work fairly well, you have to bear in mind that the ends open and close the OPPOSITE way than usual lids, this is done this way deliberately to stop kids emptying the water out of the pens and making a mess. Other reviews say the pens are impossible to undo, no dears, it's perfectly easy, you just have to screw the other way... I personally think it's a great idea. Kids enjoyed drawing on it, the marks took about half an hour to dry, so once they had quickly filled the available space, the fun came to an end and I had to hang it up to dry. One point to note: when left lying on the mat, the water "bled" or leaked out if the pens making a large round wet mark on the mat. I would recommend storing them in a pot, nib up. If this aqua mat was bigger, or even had a larger drawing area, it would be an excellent buy. As it is, I'm now looking for a bigger one.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Bought this for my two year old and he really likes it. The mat is a very good size. The pens do work really well, although I really struggled to open the pens to put the water in.
