Togo was orphaned at an early age. He was then sent to live on a plantation run by Mr Callee. Enduring three years of hardship, Togo could take no more, so he ran away to live in Kingston. Struggling to make a living on the street for a number of years, he finally got a job working in the old ship yard with Mr Robinson. Togo was a very trustworthy boy, so he was left a t night as a caretaker for the old ship yard.
