    15mm Olive removal test x 2

I have used this tool twice, both times it successfully removed a 15mm olive from a vertical central heating pipes rising through a floor board. I would comment that you do need a lot of force to turn the cross bar and the two rubber end plugs keep coming off. In the end I had to use an adjustable for greater leverage which made it easier. NB. if the pipe you are getting the olive off was previously cut using a pipe slice (causes a burr in the inside of the pipe) then you may have to widen the pipe with a file or similar for the olive tool spindle to enter the pipe. I have not tried the 22mm olive removal part of the tool.

    God quality limited application

Tried this tool on both 15mm and 22mm. It's a great quality tooll but having used it would say limited success. The part which enters the end of the pipe gets pulled into the pipe and expands it making it even harder for the olive to come off. I was frightened of breaking or bending the horizontal bar as so much turning force was required. I think if the pipe is in good condition and the olive has not been too tightly fitted it will work fine but don't expect it to work every time.

  • Olive Puller

A great tool with uncut pipework, my problem stemmed from the fact I had previously used a pipe slice tool which bevelled the ends of the tube. My resolution was initially to remove the turned in copper which was painfully slow; I sorted this out by using a lathe to reduce the pilot diameter slightly thus enabling the tool to enter the pipe. Maybe the manufacturer could do the same. Pete M.

  • Save time and risk of leaks

For years I have struggled to remove tight olives from pipes, resorting to carefully cutting the olive with an hacksaw and occasionally having the disaster of marking the pipe and the resulting leak. This tool did the job on 15 & 22 mm pipes in less than a minute without damage. Wish I had one in my toolbox for the last 30 years, life would have been easier. Definitely recommend to have one ready in your toolbox.

  • Rubbish save your money

It looks like a great tool and good value but when i went to use it it turned out it was poorly machined with the turning screw shaft off centre to the rest of the components rendering it useless so i cursed it threw it in the bin and bought a decent one from screwfix which has a better quality finish and has performed great every time

  • Saved me a lot of work

Did the job although the olive was very tight. The rubber grips on the end of the bar slip off if you need to tighten hard which is a bit annoying but apart from that minor thing it saved me a lot of work in the bathroom. Else i would have been removing tiles and knocking holes in the wall. So a great option.

  • Good Idea. Rubbish Tool.

In principle this should work. In practice, the metal bar that is meant to allow the tool to be tightened is too short and made of poor quality metal. It doesn't allow enough force to move the olive and even if you manage to apply the requisite force, either the bar bends or the tool becomes stuck on the end of the copper pipe. Use a hacksaw because this is crap.

  • Super piece of kit

Been cutting olives off with a hacksaw for years. This pulls them off easily with no damage or flaring. Brillant tool and worth every penny.
