This item arrived and initially seemed to be working, until I tried testing some transistors; all tests came up with a diode indication, or "No, unknown or damaged part" message. After some careful testing it seemed that anything connected to the green lead did not register; i.e. a capacitor between Red/Yellow was read successfully, but between Red/Green or Yellow/Green would not read. I ran the internal Self Test, which involves shorting all the leads together, then using a set value capacitor but this seemed to pass OK. Opening the unit quickly revealed the problem as quite obvious, the wire from the Green terminal was not soldered to the PCB. Once soldered the unit now seems to operate perfectly, transistors are correctly identified and test OK, discrete components can be tested between any 2 of the three leads. Now that its operating the unit is very useful and definitely worth what I paid, the display is clear and the case just the right size to sit on the desk while I work. However, the self test is useless if it can't detect an open circuit test lead and the information displayed on the screen during testing is cryptic, if not meaningless. Quality control in the build is a bit lacking, if something as simple as this gets through, or maybe I'm expecting too much?Read full review

I purchased this meter from ebay in order to test some capacitors in my Valve Amplifier. To be honest I wasn't expecting much however when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't come with any paperwork or written instructions, but if you Google the name you can find a Pdf link with all the relevent information. The test probes are a tad on the flimsy side, but I will be investigating how to change the meter sockets for regular 4mm ones. Anyway, once I took my Amplifier apart it immediately identified two dodgy Electrolytics that had gone out of spec. Just remember that you may have to desolder one leg of the component that you're testing. I was testing resistors and capacitors in parallel and had to disconnect one leg of the Cap. DON'T FORGET TO DISCHARGE ANY CAPACITORS PRIOR TO TEST !Read full review

Very impressed. Ok............... on smaller values of C and L.... not so good, but really impressed with the transistor test.......... 10 / 10
