Frustrating!
Where to start? There are some purchases in life that you really know right off the bat that you made a good buy...this is not one of them. I am terribly frustrated already.
For the most important part: Does it work?
I cannot say with any confidence that it is effective as a pop filter. Yes, it does diminish SOME plosives; but it does not "completely eliminate bursts" as the packaging states. In fact, I find myself editing them equally as much as before I had purchased this item. I can do the editing but the whole point was to make the captured audio image cleaner and reduce editing time.
You may notice is the lack of hinges for positioning. You might even think that this is no big deal and give it a try anyway...Well, positioning the screen IS difficult when you need to bend the goose-neck in order to get it in the right spot. And, if you aren't careful, risk bending the screen with it.
Additionally, the gooseneck mounts to the clamp base via one small hex nut. The amount of threads on the gooseneck are few. This means that you are unable to tighten the nut on very well (I even tried a socket to get a good grip on the thin nut). Unfortunately and sadly, the unit will turn on the mount under its own weight or when you attempt to adjust its position. This is not very well planned.
This was not worth the higher price tag paid to get a "better" pop filter. I passed up on some other metal screens thinking that Stedman's reputation was enough. Now, I am not even sure why. I am so disappointed in this product.
