Bought as a replacement for worn out sharpener. Works well and is compact enough to store anywhere. Sharpened three different types of blade in no time at all. I would.have liked the diamond honing device a little more course. I liked it so much I bought 4.

I had been looking forward to purchasing this sharpener for some time after loosing my old ceramic sharpener. I had read all the reviews that I could find and decided that the Lansky Blademedic was the one for me. I returned home from work and the package was waiting for me. Immediately I was going to put it to work. I opened the packaging and found a detailed description of how to use the Blademedic which included photographs. These would be helpful if I was not familiar with these sharpeners, but I read them all the same, wanting the keenest of blades. Out came my Swiss Army knife, now to work renewing the edge. The Blademedic felt cool to the touch. I was surprised to find that the weight felt reassuringly heavy and cool to the touch. A sign that the body was made from cast metal, most probably aluminium, and painted with a textured effect on its main surfaces. As I started to pull the blade through the carbide blades it reminded me of the old cheap sharpeners that used to have rotating small grindstones in them that were mostly ineffective at getting a decent edge. This was far from that. As I drew the blade across the carbide blades I could see the swarf being scraped from my knifes blade. The carbide blades are as they describe, fairly intense in their ability to renew the dullest of blades. Next, onto the ceramic to polish the new edge. This was a little too slow for my liking but the edge was most certainly improved for the use. Next onto the serrated ceramic sharpener. The only knife to hand that had a serrated edge was my bread knife. This had not been sharpened properly as long as I can remember but still cuts well. This was okay but I found that the diamond tapered rod to be far more versatile and effective to get the edge that I wanted. That being said the serrated ceramic sharpener is not a bad sharpener but I find it more useful to hone a straight blade before moving on the diamond rod. I don't think that would give it the overall glowing responses that I had read before I purchased mine but I would say that it is a very useful and handy tool. It is compact and has a handy hole drilled into it to attach it to a lanyard or such like. A definite must for the backpack or webbing if that is your "bag".Read full review

It is well made and a very sturdy bit of kit. Metal body not plastic like some cheaper versions. Used it on different knives, it works very well. Haven’t found a blade it can’t sharpen. It has two magnets that either hold the diamond sharpening steel in the open or closed position so it won’t come loose in your pocket.

Paid for itself with first knife sharpened, I was going to replace my kitchen knives, thought I'd give this a try, now all my knives are so sharp , even ones I'd tried for years to get sharp. Excellent tool that I've now bought for friends as Christmas presents.
