This is a beautiful 8 string ukulele made out of mango tone wood (top, back and sides). Almost the same value of a $1200 8 string uke but manufacturered under the eyes and of Koolau Ukuleles on the Island of Java, part of Indonesia. The finish of the mango sound box is semi-gloss (satin) although Pono has previously sold a similar high gloss model. Bone nut and saddle, with rosewood bridge and fingerboard. One thing nice about the Pono is that it has an adjustable neck truss rod where by you can adjust your own action and it gives extra strength to the neck since it's needed on the 8 string model. Good sound quality and packs an extra punch but not obnoxious. I really enjoy this uke!

The ukulele had 2 gouges in the headstock and many deep scratches on back. Front has dents and deep scratches. Listed as " In perfect condition " Heck no! Playable with no separation in body. Sound hole is 2", standard is 2.5". There is no manufacturer date on paper emblem inside! How did that happen? Color is very light compared to recent releases of KA-TG ukes. It will be scratched and dented but ok. I may fix more after string change.

When buying an ukulele on the less expensive size, the set up of that ukulele is by far the most important factor to consider. At this level, its even more important than brand. Many ukulele stores do not take the time to inspect instruments to ensure playability before sale. Mim did a great job setting up this ukulele so that there was no buzzing on any fret and it was playable out of the box. Aquila strings also do a good job elevating the volume and brightness of less expensive ukuleles like this and the fact that it came with a set pre-installed was a great bonus! Great value all around!

I am entranced with my little blue uke. I've had it a few weeks now, and it's tons of fun to play. Now that the strings have had a bit of time to stretch, it keeps tune pretty well with only minor adjustments needed. Since it was set up, I don't have tissues with it going sharp as soon as I push down at a fret as I did on my first ukulele. It's small enough that I can clip it onto my backpack (in a case) and carry it around with me, and cheap enough that if it does get damaged, it won't be a major loss even if I will be heartbroken. I am a beginner - I played my first ukulele for about a month before the tuning drove me batty enough to buy this one. I plan on this one lasting me for a while (or at least a few months...) before I feel the need to buy another one. All in all: it's a small investment in JOY.Read full review

The Pono AC CR tenor has an incredible sound and look for the price. Workmanship is top notch. Can equal many custom ukuleles. Comes with Grover heads and D'Addario strings. Radius fingerboard adds to playability and comfort. This is a game changer missing on many more expensive ukuleles. You don't need to break the bank for a pro level instrument that's affordable to beginners and intermediate players.
