Red Carbolic Soap
If you are looking for an alternative to standard Deet Based Repellent, look no further than Carbolic Soap, This has been used in the tropics for decades as well as parts of Europe to act as a repellent, by taking a shower with it, then going out doors. The only thing you might find offensive, is the smell of it, if you can get over its odor, then you have a fine product to work with. Up here in Maine, we have lots of Mosquitoes, and the ever annoying Black Flies. So i was looking for a less intense way of dealing with this, and i found it using Carbolic Soap. Good disinfectant soap
Everybody complains about the smell, but I didn’t think it that bad considering it is disinfectant soap. It’s not to harsh on your skin but can dry it out some if you don’t moisturize after using it, or finish washing with a different type of soap that moisturizes. After reading other reviews I was prepared for something overpowering and awful smelling. The one I purchased just isn’t that bad and I have a sensitive sense of smell. Good job. Wish it were cheaper
Use it as the 2nd step in cleaning and disinfecting our bathrooms. Spray disinfectant, let it sit, then soap down everything with carbolic soap. I like it. Smells VERY strong, but it dissipates after you rinse everything. However, the smell will travel throughout a small home. Wash with it if you want, but pretty strong phenolic smell.
Carbolic soap is good as a pest deterrrent–use in attics to deter bats, squirrels, mice etc. Shave it up and throw it around. You can wash with it, but I fear you not want to go around smelling of phenol.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
