I live in the West Highlands of Scotland so although our weather is generally mild due to the effects of the Gulf Stream it is extremely wet with long periods of rain and gales. This weather is very hard on external woodwork. When I completed the house I initally used Sadolin on facias, bargeboards, soffits and window frames but found it would only last 2 years before it showed signs of wear and peeling. Some years ago I started using Ronseal 5 year woodstain with excellent results. The change from an oil to water based product does not appear to have affected performance. I will be using Ronseal 10year woodstain for the first time this year so being able to vouch for Ronseals statement ' It does what it says on the tin' I have the greatest confidence.

There's not much you can say about a tin of paint but it really does do what it says on the tin.
