    A sound addition to your 'Spam Can' - don't feel Bulleid into buying a more expensive decoder

    Speaker provided would need to be fitted in the tender as it's too large to go in the loco- ok if you have a later model with permanently wired tender. Mine had the socket in the loco so i swapped to a slim iphone speaker to get everything to fit. I think this decoder is one of the better TTS chips - plenty of functions especially whistles including a 'passing doppler effect' which is really effective and the only one I have so far to feature this. If I wanted to find fault I would say that at low speeds the exhaust sound seems a bit clipped and false but above say 20mph it sounds more convincing.

    Value for money

    Although not as good sound reproduction as some of the market leaders products one has to bear in mind the cost. Very reasonable price for acceptable results makes this a decent product. I am thinking of using similar devices on my other models.

    Better than expected

    Though this is for a Merchant Navy I bought it to fit in a Westcountry. The supplied speaker is too large for a Westcountry so I changed it for a smaller sugar cube speaker. The results were impressive tough a little lound.

    most of the sounds were good except th coal shoveling sounds are to loud and you cannot fry bacon on this loco as the fire door mec will not allow it

    Very good but loud

    This was bought to be fitted in a Westcountry Class so the speaker was too big. Fitted a smaller speaker and after a bit of a struggle managed to get the body back on. The results were impressive with good quality sound and a large range of effects. It is quite a bit louder than other makes but I will have to find out how to get in and change the CV.

    Adds realism at an affordable price, full marks to Hornby on this one!

    You need not pay stupid money to have sound on your model, easily fitted to any DCC model in minutes. For the experienced the speaker may be exchanged to aid fitment in tight areas or improve the sound quality. Lots of tutorials and video's on the internet to help installation of most DCC fitted models when required. An affordable attribute to any model railway, look out for TTS revolutionary environmental and natural static sound chips also easily installed.
