Bought for night use, shorter distances. This is a very low cost unit and for the price not bad value. Appears to be well made. More importantly it works as intended for shorter distances. If you are on the fence about grabbing one of these..just do it. What a great piece. The range is good. You can see well beyond 200yds in complete darkness. Yes, it should get a different battery source. It does eat up batteries. But. It does it with class that NO other optic in its class or price range can do..
