simple fix
My bulb holders were broken and intermittent, so I replaced them with this unit as the E53 number plate lights are integral to this whole panel, as is the boot opening switch and handle. (They are sealed by plastic welding so don't come apart). Fixing is 4 torx screws, wiring is a single push fit connector. Two drawbacks, the thin black top seal is not supplied, so I bought and cut a strip of black self adhesive foam which worked well (otherwise there will be a gap) and secondly the part is supplied by BMW only in black plastic and needs to be colour coded/painted to match the car. I got my local car paint trade supplier to make me an aerosol of the metalic green of my car, and before fitting I masked the unit, gave it a coat of plastic primer (again from a rattle can) and on top gave it two coats of clear laquer, also from a can. That is a lot of doing but it was worth it as it looks perfect and the 'check tail light bulb' message is gone. I hope this helps someone.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
