  • Great lens with beautiful image, but really bad focus breathing

Image you getting from this lens is wonderful. The build quality is great and it feels very solid. (Although it on a heavy side). There is one major drawback for me: it's focus breathing! It's so bad, that at first when I rotated the focus ring, I though I'm zooming! It change the focal length so drastically (about 30% from close focus to infinity). It's very bad for video purposes. For photo it's not a problem at all. Focus motor is pretty slow, but works ok. Not usable for video, but for slow pace photo-shooting environment it does work fine.

  • Do you really need f1.8 ?

This is a very heavy lens, and nearly as big as the typical 70-200mm lenses. Overall I like it, but it doesn't really have much range from 50-100mm isn't a huge difference, or really just a few walking steps forward if using a prime 50mm. So a 70-200mm f2.8 such as the Tamron may be a better option for you. Also something to consider is this is made for crop sensor bodies, so unlike the Canon 70-200mm F2.8, this can't be used on a full sensor body. However, the lens is very sharp with a beautiful image, and the focus ring is long and smooth for easy video focusing. The auto focus is not as responsive as the Sigma 18-35mm which I think is all I would have purchased, given that I already have a 50mm, 85mm & a 135mm (manual focus Rokinon lenses). Overall I can do without the Sigma 50-100mm, but I'm completely very happy with the Sigma 18-35mm which is a must have lens. The 50-100mm is not a must have for me.

  • Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 Art Lens + Canon 80D, a great pair of performers

This lens performed very well in low light on 2 video shoots and a few portraits, not a lot of experience with it yet, but so far so good. It produced very sharp video with great color rendition and in the lowest light on one end of the stage it managed to still produce great results with a little help from the good low light performance of the Canon 80D. So far this lens has delivered everything it promised.

  • New Favorite Lens

I have the BMPCC4K with the Sigma 18-35 and this 50-100 and I have to say this is my new favorite lens outside of using my Ronin-S. Such a sharp lens with a perfect focal length with the 1.5 crop

  • Love this lens.

Great for indoor shots. I'm very happy with it. I thought the ring mount would be in the way, but I have the mount upwards and it is fine. I do wish the zoom ring was larger but I got used to it. The lens is heavy! If using for an extended period of time use a tri/mono pod. Otherwise your hands and arms will get tired. I never thought I would ever buy a Sigma much less recommend one but this lens is a keeper!

  • sigma 50-100 art lens for canon

being eyeing this lens and when I got it. its perfect. love the sharpness when you take pictures. its kinda heavy but I guess it was built really good. the accessories that came with it like the backpack not so much too small for the lens . otherwise I love the lens.

  • In Love...Yes

Lens is amazing with my new GH5...it's big and heavy but has that slow focus and zoom pull that makes you feel like you're using a $10,000 Cinema Lens.

  • My new favorite portrait lens

On a crop sensor, this is the equivalent of having a 80-160mm f/1.8 lens which is incredibly fast for a zoom portrait lens. I basically stopped using my 70-200 f/2.8 Fantastic product.

  • MAPCAMERA IS THE BEST!

This is the second lens I have purchased from mapcamera. Both times I’ve been really impressed with the quality of their used lenses. I totally recommend them!
