The item was new and just as advertised. The modem was shipped and arrived quickly and plugged right in with no issues. The value was good compared to the rental fees compared to the provider. Overall longevity has not been rated as I've only had the unit operational one week. Not for Triple Play Customers!
The itemarrived quickly, and may be new, but was a very old model. It powered easily, and all lights went on. I followed all directions, but spent a lot of time trying to get it to work correctly, with my comcast Triple Play, and it did not. I worked with phone support people (4 different ones) for a long time. As a last resort, I had them send a very experienced tech to my house, but he showed me that it was just not compatible with my system. I'll be returning it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Arris Telephony Cable Modem
The Arris TG862G WiFi Telephony Cable Modem allows me to only have one modem...it handles internet as well as telephone communication (hence, Telephony). My cable company had to set it up (via a telephone call) so that it would work with my LAN router, and also the company had to set it up for the telephone function. Once that had happened, everything is much faster and streamlined. I returned my leased phone modem and save that $10 cost every month! The lights are easy to see, so the state of the modem is always obvious. Connections were no problem either, since all of the connections are standard coaxial, Ethernet, or telephone plug. Now, we can stream movies without constant interruption for buffering. The unit looks great, too, so it is nice on the desk. Need to learn WiFi set up
Since this Arris model does not have a WPS button, the code (six digit number) provided by my HP Officejet printer had to be somehow entered into the Arris. I had to learn to use the IPaddress of the Arris (xxx.xxx.0.5) as a web address. Then I found the place to enter the six digit code. works well ...easy set up
This is compatible with Xfinity and I had no problem hooking it up....the problem is I"M STILL TRYING TO GET WI FI. According to Comcast I have to go to their office which is 35 miles away and inconvenient in order to have them accept this modem so I will have WI FI. When I spoke with Arris tech support...they wanted $39.00 to help me which really didn't set well! So if you don't need WI FI you'll be fine. Great solution for modem, wireless and telephone
I bought this product based on being on the approved modem supported modem list from local cable internet provider. It was easy to hook up, came with everything I needed, synced up with provider after 30-45 minutes. Called tech support and they saw it on the network and after giving them the CMAC address internet was working with no problem for the wired ports. after resetting to default for wireless settings and several minutes of configuration for better performance, the wireless was working. I have tested speed results both wired and wireless with results in line with the service I am paying for. Loved product
This product arrived much faster than I anticipated. It performs better than the one I had been "given" by my cable company. The instructions were easy to follow, but my cable company requires that you call in and give them the numbers off the new modem for them to set it up to use the internet. The TV worked without being set up. I consider this a GREAT DEAL since I have been paying $10 a month to "rent" the cable company's modem. Better than the old modem and it is mine. Got it so I could save some money instead of renting.
This unit is outdated and would not work with the newer cable system requirements, after they told me it would, it did not. If you buy something like this to save you a few bucks, make 100% sure it will work with an updated system. Saved me a ton of money
Even though this was a used unit, it looked great and performs even better. It came with instructions on how to install and activate through Comcast (it also had some basic instructions for other service providers).
