Design flaw. Poor B&D support.
The string trimmer works great, no problem with that. The hedge trimmer would only work when attached to the extension pole. Problem is, that the extension pole has a bend in it, so when the hedge trimmer is attached to the pole, it's hard to get a clean cut since it's at a weird angle. B&D website says it will work attached to the base unit directly but it wouldn't turn on. So I did some research. There's a "safety" tab that gets pushed in when you attach the pole, but the hedge trimmer has a cutout that prevents that tab from getting pushed in so it doesn't work. Now, the top bar on the base is supposed to move that tab in when you squeeze it (the safety part) but mine wouldn't move far enough to let the hedge trimmer turn on. I contacted B&D support but was told to take it back to the place I bought it. Hell of a way to support your products B&D!!!!!!!! So I found a way to put a small piece in the slot on the trimmer so the switch is activated when I squeeze the top bar and it's working attached to the base. It's really nice equipment once I got it running, but I shouldn't need to go through all these hoops, that's sad. So no, I wouldn't recommend buying this.
