Incredible filmmaking by Christopher Nolan. Just watching the feature alone shows how epic his storytelling is, let alone watching the behind-the-scenes and seeing the lengths he took to create such an immersive movie. Was apprehensive about having a music star as a part of the main cast, but surprisingly Harry Styles pulled it off. Fionn Whitehead was superb in his first lead role amongst all the others, the casting was perfect. Highly recommend.

Expected blood and guts but too much talking no actor stood out. Found the film too long and boring. The film was more of a propaganda film about our boys taking shipping trawlers out to Dunkirk to bring them back home.

Having seen the original John Mills ,Bernard Lee version of Dunkirk,I approached the new release wirth some trepidation, but was very pleasantly surprised. The film captures the period feel beautifully, and the attention to detail is amazing.Watching the mini documentaries in the extras after the film, one is struck by the extraordinary lengths the film makers went to to recreate the events ,and it shows in every frame.I had read some reviews which criticised some scenes, including one which actually found it unrealistic that a soldier would put his hands on top of his tin helmet while taking cover from bombing. It may not have been according to training, but in the heat of real action I'm sure many would have done as a natural reaction ! The unusual score works very well alongside the on screen action, but I must admit that when I heard it on a Classic FM programme a couple of weeks ago,I was less than impressed because it is strangely repetitive. All in all well worth watching and will no doubt become a classic with the benefit of time.Read full review

Contrary to the rave reviews this film did not give an accurate picture of the reality that was Dunkirk. In the film the beaches were deserted, the flying scenes were inaccurate and the boating scenes amateurish to anyone with boating experience. The story line left everything to be desired. The original Dunkirk film gave a more accurate indication of the significance of the action.
