A good summary of the Hornby brand
There are a few books that go deep into the complex history of the Hornby brand, and many specialise in Hornby Dublo, and Triang (Rovex era) Hornby, and Hornby itself in its most recent history. This book is a happy combination of all giving plenty of illustrations of products from the Hornby stable. It doesn’t feature Wrenn, and that’s another story. It features up to 2002, and since then there have been many twists and turns for Hornby with its venture into Chinese production that could fill another volume. If like me you grew up in the Dublo to Hornby via Triang era, this book is a good wander down memory lane and highly recommended.

Excellent Starting Point Book
This book is published as an 'Official Guide' and is a very effective presentation of Hornby's history, from the early days of tin plate to the final days at Margate. It represents a briefer overall history than the encyclopaedic 'Story of Rovex' and 'Hornby companion' books since it has far fewer paged than those combined volumes: however this is also a strength in that it can be used as an overall steering guide or as an introduction to newcomers. The book contains many excellent colour photographs that represent original colours possibly better than the other volumes mentioned.
