Steely Oldie but Newie Very Goody
I probably thought i was buying a "used" copy ... so it sounds silly ,but i was almost disappointed that the cover wasn't "dog eared" and the vinyl a little scratched and scuffed ... with a label proclaiming 1972 ( if that's right?) ... but this is obviously a tremendous new production ... The percussive intro to "Do It Again" never sounded better or more immersive to me ... seems to go on much longer than it ever did ... the different vocalists are even more apparent "Dirty Work" is so lucid and beautiful ... "Midnight Cruiser" sounds amphetamine fuelled ... but of course the most familiar vocals of Donald Fagen double tracked to start with ... then crazily good with each successive track, seduce us into what became the "Steely Dan" sound we came to know and love. I only ever owned this album on cassette before now ... this is a truly great aural investment!

you can buy a thrill
steely dan's debut album reissued by universal on 180g vinyl mastered by bernie grundman . this does sound good cut from a digital file , nice gatefold jacket good clean quiet vinyl . if you already own an original in good condition you won't need this , if you don't, you cannot go wrong with this version at a very decent price
