    Alcatel Big Easy Plus

This is a simple, straight-forward cell phone that has large numerals, and is fairly easy to use. I bought it as an emergency means of communication should I fall on a walk, or my car break down. It is exactly what I wanted and needed. In fact, I subsequently bought one for my wife. It does not have all the bells and whistles that my kids phones have, but it has everything I need - large numerals, good sized screen, fairly intuitive operating system, camera, flashlight, speed-dialing, etc. The phone came with 800 minutes, 365 days of call time, which, based on what I paid for it comes to less than $4.00 per month. Quite a bargain. (They have since gone up in price). I'm very satisfied and would recommend this phone to anyone who needs a simple, basic phone.

Big Numbers, not big sound...not customizable

Good keyboard, weak earpiece sound, weak speakerphone. No ringer choices. Not well thought out for the elderly market it should be serving. Got it for my mom, who does not master these things easily. She decided to keep her Samsung T301G that is too small, but a better performing cell phone. Also had the Samsung &404G which was a better overall phone. Update: My mom now has two working phones - this Alcatel and the Sam T301. I only pay $12mo. for each one on Tracfone, so I want what makes her happy (at 92 yrs). She calls on the Alcatel , using the big buttons. She likes to receive calls on the Samsung, which is clearer and louder.

  • Careful when Transferring to this phone

I transferred to this new phone and it gave me exactly one year of service and an additional 800 minutes of calling. I lost the previous days of service which existed on my old phone. I called track phone to get my service time back and they were no help, the service time I lost was not worth fighting. To those transferring for extra service time, you should wait before transferring to this phone until your old phone's service days is about to expire. I bought this phone phone for my elderly mother, it is a great deal for someone who only rarely uses their phone. The one negative (thus minus one star) is the front panel web button. It is right above the power/end button and very "convenient" to press, it will log you onto the phone's lousy web browser and start sucking your minutes. It is easy to cancel out of before it connects, but there is no way to disable feature/button. I swear it is only there for the purpose of sucking your minutes, the phone has no wifi so using the web will only work through the phone 3G connection sucking your minutes for as long as you are on the web. I would recommend leaving the phone's lock feature enabled to avoid an accidental Butt dial which connects you to the Web and drains all your minutes. This is still the best deal on the Web for someone who just wants the added security of having cell phone access. It has a flashlight a FM radio and some basic tools calculator etc...

  • Big Easy Deal

This is practical, if only as an inexpensive low maintenence phone. Its simplicity in use for those who dont want to spend hours a day dealing with everything a smart phone demands is great. If it breaks or is lost just get another and add backed up contacts .A Fine alternative for people who want to spend more time with real people instead of their smart phone.

  • Nice Big Keys...but........

It's nice for having large readable keys for the young, middle aged or older people. But the main screen should have been made more simpler in order to navigate. The main screen is basically a thrown together MESS!. I find it hard to do simple tasks like adding contacts, deleting multiple messages and searching for the button area to even send a message. The charge cradle is nice though. I hope they will redo this model. Keep or remove the FM radio, and add voice dialing, camera and video recorder. This phone COULD be so good. It's priced too high I guess because the keys are large, but other than that you would like the Tracfone's LG 236c better....a MUCH nicer basic model. MClarke Neenah, WI

  • Almost Perfect

The value of this phone is unbeatable; it came with 800 minutes and 1 year of service. I was able to transfer my existing phone number to this phone online. The number of minutes transferred okay; but I needed Tracfone Customer Service's help to transfer the number of days to this new phone. Customer Service was excellent in resolving the issue. Bluetooth works fine; I was able to transfer low resolution (170x260) wallpapers from PC to phone via Bluetooth for free. The only negative aspect of the phone is that it requires holding a key to unlock the phone. Otherwise, I would have given this phone a 5 star rating.

  • Nice basic phone

I use this as a backup phone and most of the time it will obtain a signal where my expensive smart will not. It's a very basic phone, but one of the reason's I purchased it was the large keys. They sure come in handy at times. On the negative side, the phone does seem kind of fragile. I havev't dropped it yet and I hope I never do as I don't think it will handle a drop on a hard surface very well. Overall, a pretty good phone and I'm glad I bought it.

  • Good generally, one caveat

I bought this phone for my mom (she's 87) because it has large numbers, has just basic features, and is inexpensive. This was all good, but it had one annoying feature. The lock button is on the upper right side of the phone and is easily touched when holding it. She had to frequently hit this button to unlock it because she inadvertently locked it by touching this button. It is in a horrible spot--are you listening Alcatel?

  • wish it had a little more screen....

Ive got big fingers and this texts welll...need more screen to get internet... ebay forget about it...wish it had more ringtone options...had to purchase more ringtones...i like the spell feature once you get used to it...you can get a nice case for it ...they are available....plan on getting frustrated once you start to use it ... it not like other phones...ive had it about 3 weeks and im finally adjusting...its like driving a chevy and then getting a plymouth...as the days go on the more i like it...ive finally figured on how it ticks...

  • Good for the price

The phone was only $30 with a year of Tracfone service and 800 minutes (what a deal). The phone has an irritating attempt to prevent butt dialing: before you can dial, you have to press and hold a tiny button on the side to unlock the dial. However, the phone dials numbers in my pocket without needing the tiny button. Sometimes, the first number you dial doesn't go through, you have to press it again. Having a charging stand instead of a tiny socket for a charging cable is nice. The numbers are very clear.
