Heavy But Joyful
This is a 22 cd set with Igor Stravinsky conducting or directly supervising his own compositions. I’ve waited 30 years to finally get hold of this and have already listened to the whole collection twice, and remain fascinated by the c20th greatest classical composer recoding a huge number of his works. A cow, silly or not, can hear the music if it’s loud enough, but it doesn’t mean much to them. Whilst I really do like most of it, there are still parts which I need to get more conversant with, before I can fully appreciate it ‘to the max’. Petrushka, the Rite of Spring, the Firebird and the Ebony Concerto (a jazz composition) are my own favourites, but other listeners will have their own. There is plenty more to enjoy, as I am doing. But if you don’t like classical, or c20th music, then simply move on because this isn’t for you
