An update to the "classic" DX7 from 1983. The DX7S doubles the internal memory, adds Unison Mode, improves the MIDI specification, and replaces the membrane switches with buttons. The audio output is cleaner (by 1980's standards) due to 16 bit DAC - some may say that this makes the original DX7 sound a little "warmer" - but hey, the DX7 is the quintessential "cold" digital sysnth, how warm do you want it to be? (In the modern age the DX7S pairs well with the softsynth DEXED which provides library and editor capabilities as well as a very reasonable softsynth version of the DX7)
