Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood
Shortly, it's all pros for price-quality ratio to this item - no doubt about it. Rubber part of this hood is tough enough covering front lens adequately, which is in my opinion important thing in addition. Main point with this particular rubber-hood besides it's being fit to at least 28mm wide-angle lens, or for example to 28-70mm short zooms as well, is that it's rubber-part is ATTACHED to the metal-ring UNLIKE it's Chinese cheaper counterparts. In those models ring and rubber parts are NOT glued or attached to each others which means UNRELIABILITY in handling them - parts can be detached from each others while mounting or removing them. So, this model is better made being still budget. Highly Recommended Buy particularly for those lenses - maybe older ones of which SOME ARE still good OPTICALLY and worth use even today - that don't have that newer plastic bayonet-type hood-mounts.

Rubber rings
There's no ways a one single rubber band would keep the adapter holding on to the lens. You need both. But using both it wordkspretty reliable.
