Great little basic chorus unit
The Danelectro FAB Chorus has earned a spot on my pedal board, along with the JOYO JF-07 Jet Flanger, and the Marshall RG-1 Regenerator. It's a basic, meat-and-potatoes unit - you get Mix, Speed, and Depth controls - that works well and provides a useful range of tonal effects for very little money.
In typical Danelectro fashion, it has its peculiarities: the 1/4" input and output, as well as the 9V DC in are all located on the back of the unit, rather than on the sides, like most floor pedals. The control knobs are also located on the back, instead of up top - and they work backward from the way you'd expect them to, so they can be a bit confusing for those new to the Danelectro Way.
But, as an effects pedal, the FAB Chorus pulls its weight - and it does it noiselessly, unlike, say, the Behringer Ultra Chorus, which ticks at a rate governed by the Rate control setting. That's why it sits on the shelf, while the Danelectro pedal occupies the space on my pedal board where the Behringer used to be.
The FAB Chorus runs equally well on batteries or an external 9V supply - which is handy for a lot of guitarists, because the power supply is not included.
There are definitely better units on the market for a WHOLE lot more money - but the Dano does the job pretty darned well for the price ...
