I wondered what all the fuss was about with these pickups as I found the Steve Harris SPB4 not a great pickup for my style. The SPB1 is a different animal. A great balance of vintage sound and power at an amazing price. I use Rotosound Swing66 strings and have both Maple and Rosewood fret boards. I liked these so much I brought a second set for my other Precision.

Great sounding, it's transformed the sound of my P Bass. And it's ceaper than the Fander vintage equivalent!

Nice sound, obviously weaker than the SPB-1 but just turn the amp up!
Nothing wrong with the pickup but I think it depends on the guitar body woods.
