Super useful for any Mac
All Macs can benefit from having an Apple Care Protection Plan. An out-of-warranty Mac with a critical problem can be a nightmare. The AppleCare not only covers the Mac for 2 extra years, but also does it globally, covering you even on foreign countries. It's a no-brainer. And if you think it's costly, try having a screen replaced with an out of warranty Mac.

Don't Leave Home Without It
I can't tell you how many times I have been at the genius bar when someone next to me got some bad and expensive news when the genius asked if that customer had AppleCare and the answer was "no." I get AppleCare on everything. I've noticed that the genius tends to cut you a break if you have AppleCare.
