Great Black Walnut Cracker that Packs a Real Punch!
This device does the job of cracking black walnuts very quickly. One needs to do a tiny bit of experimentation to get the best angles on the nut. Using less pressure is better than using more because this device packs a real punch. Super easy to learn how to use it! Top piece underneath fell off. Looks like it wasn’t welded together properly. Hoping to find someone to weld it back together.
Looks like it wasn’t welder properly & not welded at all on one side. Did get to use it some before this happened. If this hadn’t happened to only complaint I would have had is that it would be nice it the handle was about 3 x wider on the end. It made my hand sore. Great Product
I bought this to crack Shagbark Hickory Nuts, one of the hardest nuts out there, and it does a beautiful job on them. With a little practice you can learn to crack the shell on any nut without the nut shattering. Experiment with where you place your nuts on the cracker and the amount of pressure you push the handle down with. I also place my nutcracker in a small plastic dishwashing tub while shelling so the cracked nuts and associated shell fragments are contained and don't make a mess. This item is fairly expensive, however it appears extremely well built and should last a lifetime or more. Note: This is not a toy or decorative item that you'd want to leave out on your coffee table during the holiday season. It is a serious tool to efficiently and easily crack the hardest hickory, black walnut and other hard shell and softshell nuts. I gathered about 8 gallons of hickory nuts this fall and was not looking forwards to shelling them using my old method which involved a hammer, channel lock pliers and a cement block!!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works for very hard nuts like black walnut
It is tough enough to crack black walnuts. So far I have used it for about a dozen black walnuts. It takes a little practice to crack the nuts without shattering them all over the place. I just put the cracker is a cardboard box and that really helped to minimize the mess. One note there are two rows of teeth separated by a grove down the middle. This design seemed strange to me. I expected the teeth to be solid all the way across. However, it still cracks the nuts pretty well so I am satisfied.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nut Cracker
Good product but not quite up to some of the toughest Black Walnuts or smaller pieces once you get them broken. The machine does great with Brazil Nuts but when it comes to the larger and tougher Black Walnuts there simply isn't enough leverage to crack them without worrying about your fingers and if the machine will take the stress. It get the job done.
We have the nutcracker mounted in a shadow box about waist high and it works good. I just think it could use a stouter lever, mainly because it does put a strain on it when cracking the black walnuts, which is the reason I purchased it.
